Career Guide

This page was created to provide in one place all of the information our Advancing Science Conference Grant recipients will need to participate in the NOBCChE Conference.  This page will be updated regularly as new information becomes available.  For questions, please contact us at [email protected] or [email protected]

As a 2023 recipient of the Advancing Science Conference Grant, you have been identified as one of the country’s best and brightest upcoming scientists.  We are excited for you to attend and showcase your science! This award covers your lodging for the conference and allows you to register at a discounted rate.

As a recipient, we want you to be prepared to attend the conference as your best self so that you can take advantage of the awesome opportunities available during the conference. At the conference, you will encounter competitive career opportunities and have a chance to build and edify your professional network. To poise you for those interactions, you are REQUIRED to attend a virtual webinar BEFORE the in-person conference. This webinar will provide information regarding how to best prepare for the in-person event, conference etiquette, and some pertinent advice on how to make yourself memorable!!! Details regarding dates and times will be provided in the near future.

As an awardee, there are some stipulations that you will be expected to adhere to while participating in the conference. All persons that receive the award are required to stay for the entirety of the conference. (Exceptions should be approved ahead of schedule by contacting student programs - [email protected])

During the conference you are also REQUIRED to do the following:

  • Attend the pre-conference webinar
  • Present
  • Complete an onsite volunteer assignment
  • Attend:
    • 4 hours per day tech and/or professional development
    • Pre-Conference information sessions
    • Luncheons
    • Mixers

More details will be spelled out on the pre-conference webinar.  While our goal is not to prescribe the entire conference, we want to ensure that you take advantage of this opportunity as often conference attendance has helped to spring-board graduate experiences and opened the doors to career opportunities. Your attendance to these REQUIRED sessions is a step toward putting you in the right place at the right time!!!

To the extent NOBCChE has provided you with incentives (i.e., free or discounted rooms, free or discounted registration fees, etc.) to attend the event and participate in appointments or meetings at the event, should you fail to attend such appointments or meetings, NOBCChE reserves the right to charge you, AND you agree to promptly pay NOBCChE for such discounts or incentives given. In the event of a time conflict that presents itself which prevents you from satisfying the requirements of this award, you will need to contact [email protected] to discuss solutions.
