Committee Descriptions

Each committee consists of a group of talented and dedicated volunteers that work together to accomplish the goals and missions described below. New members will be paired with returning volunteers who can provide guidance and support. 

Student Development Committee

The goals of the student development committee are to market and evaluate the Advance Science Conference Grant (ASCG) applicants, organize and communicate with ASCG awardees prior to and during the conference, organize programming during the Annual Conference to assist undergraduate and graduate students prepare for their next professional transition by providing information detailing research/funding/workforce opportunities. 

Communications
Put your creativity to work and join the team helping to promote the conference via the web site, social media and emails.  Help create message, design content and much more!

Professional Development Committee
The goal of the professional development committee is to provide dynamic and interactive programming for early, mid and late career professionals.  The focus of the programming is to aid NOBCChE members who are seeking to improve their career prospects beyond the student phase.  For the committee, this includes planning seminars/sessions such as preparing your associate professor tenure dossier, choosing the correct career track in industry, alternative (non-research) careers in chemistry, etc. 

Technical Sessions Committee
The Technical Session Committee is responsible for the organization and facilitation of all technical programming prior to and during the annual conference. This responsibility includes abstract evaluation, communication with presenters, organizing technical podium presentations and poster presentations, the organization of volunteers for poster judging and podium session moderation, and collaboration with sponsors/American Chemical Society (ACS) to identify Sponsored Poster Awardees as well as ACS Exchange Awardees.  

Awards Committee
The role of the Awards Committee is the solicit and evaluate applications for all NOBCChE Awards. This committee works to ensure applicants meet the criteria set forth by the committee. Additionally, the committee organizes the logistics of the Winifred Burks-Houk Award Luncheon, Percy Julian Award Luncheon, and the Awards Ceremony.

Business Development
Help identify and recruit sponsors and exhibitors for the conference.
