Technical Session Judges

Are you a senior-level graduate student, postdoctoral fellow, faculty member, or research scientist actively involved in research in any of the scientific disciplines? We invite you to volunteer as a judge for the upcoming NOBCChE 2021 conference scheduled for September 16-18th. 

With a given rubric, virtual judges will provide constructive feedback to the participants (undergraduates, graduates, postdoc, or professionals) based on their oral or poster presentations.

Resume Reviewers

Student Programs is looking for volunteers to review participants' resumes before they meet with our Sponsors and Exhibitors during the conference.  The tentative dates for these sessions are Sunday, September 12, 2021, and Tuesday, September 14, 2021.   The time slots for both days would be from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM ET.  Reviewers are expected to commit to at least two hours of volunteering.

Science Bowl Volunteers

Our STEM Committee is looking for volunteers to assist in running the 2021 Virtual NOBCChE Science Bowl the positions needed are listed below.  Please note training sessions will be made available prior to the start of the conference to familiarize all volunteers with their roles and the controls of Zoom.

Room Moderator and Question Reader

This person will moderate the session, read any instructions or housekeeping notes, read the questions out to the teams, and manage the breakout rooms.

Science Bowl Judge

This person is responsible for keeping track of correct and incorrect answers for their assigned teams.

Time Keeper and Answer Secretary

This person is responsible for monitoring the time for each round, tracking their assigned teams' responses to the questions within the time limit, and supporting the judges as needed.

Session Moderators

We are looking for volunteers to help moderate sessions during the 2021 NOBCChE Virtual Conference.

The role of a virtual moderator includes greeting your speakers 30 minutes ahead of your scheduled session.  Greeting your attendees at the start of the session, introducing the session speakers, managing presentation timing, screening and relaying typed Q&A questions to the speakers.  Volunteer orientation sessions will be offered prior to the start of the conference to answer questions, provide training, and practice using any Zoom features you may be unfamiliar with.
